With Second Career Assistance and Financial Aid, Career Training is Accessible to All Students

For many, funding their education can feel like a barrier, but remember – education is an investment in yourself. Doing vocational training may allow you to experience the feeling of freedom that comes from financial independence. Relish being able to stand on your own two feet; become a role model for your family, an active member of your community, and gain a sense of pride within yourself.

Second Career Assistance

The Second Career program provides support to laid-off employees in need who will benefit most from training to find work. Newly laid off workers need long-term skills training. This is the most helpful tool to help individuals transition into high-skill, high-demand occupations in the local employment market.

Depending on your situation, E.I/Government could give you money for school. This money does not need to be repaid as it is NOT a loan. To see if this applies to you, read the criteria mentioned below.

Second Career Eligibility Ontario:

· You are currently on E.I

· You have been on E.I. anytime after 2005

· You have been on Maternity/Parental anytime in the last 5 years

· You have been laid-off anytime after January 2005 and even if you are not eligible for E.I Benefits

· You have been on Disability

Second Career Funding:

You may qualify for tuition and living expenses such as:

· Books

· Living expenses

· Help caring for dependents

· Travel & Transportation

· Disability supports

· Other living and training costs
